In life, sometimes a job just doesn’t cut it.

It may be that your job requires too much time, effort, energy, or too little pay.

You might have to do something you don’t want to do or work with people who don’t see and don't treat you like they should.

Life is too short to spend doing something you don’t want to do, especially if you’re only working for a paycheck.

That’s why having a side hustle to work on is so great. You get to choose to do something that you like to do, for income that you create.

Yes, it may sound hard and it’s never as easy as it seems (I know first hand about this), but if you’re stubborn enough to look up at the mountain that’s your dream and be crazy enough to start climbing I can promise that you won’t be disappointed.

It’s one of the greatest feelings in the world when you growing and building toward your goal, and you can look back and see how far you’ve actually come when you doubted that your crazy plan could even work in the first place.

So, if you’re ready to start your first side hustle, here are 10 ideas you can try and see which ones are right for you.

1. Car Cleaning

I know what you might be thinking, “Why the hell would I suggest cleaning cars?” but hear me out. Cleaning cars isn’t the hardest thing in the world and that’s why it made the list.

When I’m detailing my own or my parent’s cars, I kind of run on autopilot. I find, that when I do jobs that don’t use any brainpower, like mowing the lawn or cleaning something, I can get my body to run on autopilot.

When you cleaning a car, there’s no real brainpower that’s needed to do the task, because it’s pretty simple and that’s the good thing.

It’s a simple task that many busy people don’t get the time to do regularly, ensuring you’ll have tons of jobs lined up because everyone now of days has a car.

Like I mentioned before, with not a lot of brainpower required to do the task, it can allow your brain to wander and even multitask.

You could use the time when you’re cleaning a car to crush a podcast or an audiobook, because essentially when you working, you also get paid to listen and think about stuff.

Although it can seem to become very repetitive and dry, car cleaning is a great first choice to raise the cash or learn a different skill to do something else because of the multitask opportunity it provides.

2. Dog Walker

There are around 90 million dogs in the United States alone, and it’s no shocking secret to know that not every dog gets the required exercise it needs.

Some people may be too busy to go for a walk, or may just physically be unable too, and this is where the opportunity presents itself.

Everyone loves their furry friends, so most people will be willing to pay for some exercise for their pets. Walking dogs also isn’t a hard job at all, and you can even double up on more jobs because you can walk more than one dog at a time, as long as they get along.

3. eBay Seller

This one is by far the coolest one on the list. Being an eBay seller means you find items locally or on the internet for a cheap price, the turnaround and sell them to customers around the world through eBay’s website.

I think being an eBay reseller is awesome because of the kinda second side to the selling business, which is finding products.

I absolutely LOVE finding items in either thrift stores or garage sales, which means that they’re usually priced to a point where you’ll be able to make a profit off of reselling.

Another great thing about an eBay seller is that it’s super easy to scale up. More products to sell means more cash coming in, and with that cash can be used to buy more and more products.

Rinse and repeat and you’ve got yourself a full-function business.

4. Being A Youtuber

If there’s been one thing on the internet that I can confidently say has changed my life for the better, is youtube.

Not only are Youtube videos educational, but I’m not going to lie they’re really entertaining. I prefer watching youtube over T.V.

When your scrolling through youtube, there are videos about everything anyone can think of on earth, and there’s an audience for everything.

And when there’s an audience for something, that means there’s opportunity to be found too.

If you like creating video content, editing videos, and doing a lot of digital work, youtube is going to be a great place to start.

All you have to do is find what you like, see if it has an audience and if it does your good to go.

Although it may be hard to understand and get views at the start, it's like Robin S Sharma said “Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end”

5. Babysitting

Good old babysitting. Some people are absolutely great at this, and then others like myself just can’t seem to have everything go right.

Babysitting is for surly not my cup of tea, but if you love hanging out with kids and having a sort of upbeat and fun approach to working, this is the goldmine.

Babysitting does require a huge amount of patience, and a babysitting course certification to prove that you’re actually qualified to take care of kids because babysitting is when you’re watching someone else’s kids, which are the most important things in the world to their parents.

Babysitting is awesome because it can be considered an essential service. No matter where you go, there’s going to be hardworking busy parents who will need someone to watch their little bundles of joy.

6. Lawn Mowing Service

This is another one of my favourites. Lawn mowing is another one of those things that are going to be around forever because don’t usually stop growing.

Lawns serve as many people’s points of admiration because having a nice kept up lawn signifies that you care about your belongings and take pride in showing you the green patch in front of your house off.

I also know for experience that lawn mowing isn’t hard, it’s just a really time-consuming process that requires a lot of patience, which is something most people won’t want to waste on mowing their lawn making this a great opportunity to swoop in.

Landscaping is another one of those jobs that require a lot of time spent just doing repetitive tasks, so like the car wash lawn mowing is a great opportunity to multitask too.

Combining your work with audiobooks or podcasts is the highest form of working that I can think of, straightly because you get to grow your mind while your hustling at the same time.

7. House Sitter

House sitting is another one of those things that aren’t hard at all but is something that is essential.

Every year, around 40% of people in North America go on a vacation, meaning you have 40% of the population to find opportunity in.

When people take a vacation it’s usually for a longer period of time, with studies showing that the average length is around 5-7 days.

Now, from the number of people’s houses I’ve had the opportunity to be in all have something in common, and that’s daily chores to keep the house running and looking nice. It’s usually essential that these daily chores get done every single day, or else they could have a domino effect of catastrophes.

I know here on our farm, our daily chores are mainly focused on keeping our plants and animals alive. When we do go away on vacation, we have someone come every day and do what we would normally do for us.

And as a house sitter, this would be exactly what you’d be doing. Whether it be walking their dog to watering their plants, to even cutting their grass someone will have to do it while their away.

Like I said before, house sitting is also not hard at all. You’ve just got to make sure you do everything 110% and make sure you don’t forget anything, because I can tell you from experience that it’ll blow up in your face.

These next three are more digital side hustle ideas because balance is crucial in life and you can never leave out the internet.

8. Digital Designer

Computer skills are in extremely high demand in today’s society. Even if you know very basic stuff, it puts you in a position that many people are envy of.

With the way things are going in the world, the demand for making things digitally are only going to grow, and where there is demand there’s an opportunity.

Being a digital designer means you’ll be creating something through the internet on a computer. Whether that be youtube videos, book covers, business card designs, picture designs, the list goes on.

When you’ve picked out which part of the digital design you want to do, you can head over to Fiverr to sell your skills. Fiverr is a freelance market place where you can sell your skills to anyone in the world looking to purchase your talents.

The minimum you get paid when you first start out is 5 dollars, but that number will be able to grow the more you work at it and grow your reputation. It also usually doesn’t take too long to create something either.

9. Translator

These next 2 side hustles can also be formed and gone through with Fiverr.

This side hustle is essentially exactly what the title says, you get to be a translator and if you speak and can read another language this one should be a breeze.

There are people out there who are searching for someone to take their piece of writing or work, and simply translate it into another language. A not super hard process, but quite time-consuming.

But it’s with this time consuming that lies the opportunity. If someone asks you to translate say an essay or a book, you could charge them based on what your time would be worth working.

10. Tutoring

There are just some subjects in school and university that just do not click with your brain and I know first hand how extremely frustrating it can be.

You could be the smartest person in the world, but eventually somethings going to come along and it’s going to feel like trying to learn a language for the first time.

Luckily there are people out there who are fluent in the subjects that frustrate most people, and more than likely they’re willing to help.

This what tutoring is, helping someone who’s struggling with a subject or an assignment that you know extremely well. All you need is some good teaching skills and a lot of patience, and you’ll be good to go.

I have mixed feelings about tutoring. I’ve helped teach a lot of younger kids and teens, and I find it can be really awesome or it can be quite difficult, and it really depends on who your teaching.

If they’re younger kids, it will be harder for them to focus and if they’re older kids it’ll be more difficult to convince them to keep going.

If you’ve got the patience and love kids you’ll breeze through, but having that store of patience is really the first step.

Conclusion

2020 has been a mess so far, but luckily there’s some time left to try something new.

If you're looking for ways to be able to make a little more extra cash, having a side hustle is going to be the way to go. There are options for everyone and anything you can think of.

With the Internet and patience to make it work, you have in your hands the opportunity to create something that can grow into something wonderful.
